Babies by the Bay was established by Renee Humphry and Ben Dransfield

Babies by the Bay was established by Renee Humphry and Ben Dransfield opening their first centre in Double Bay in 2010. Located in the heart of the Double Bay Village on the harbour foreshore.

Following the success of Babies by the Bay Double Bay, we purchased the Little Palace Preschool South Cronulla in 2012 which became Babies by the Bay Cronulla. Situated in a Californian Bungalow home in a beachside location adjacent to the Darook Park and Gunnamatta Bay.

In 2016 we stumbled across a beautiful State Heritage Listed home in the heart of Cammeray Village on Sydney’s Lower North Shore. The old home was built in 1886 by Sir Joseph Palmer Abbott a speaker of the NSW Legislative Assembly, Chairman of AMP and a member of the Conventions to form a Constitution for the Commonwealth of Australia. Approval to convert the historic home was approved by the Land and Environment Court and to pay respect to the history of the place we named the centre Tarella House Early Learning Centre.

In 2021 the opportunity presented itself to takeover the amazing efforts of Mimi’s Kindergarten, Cronulla which was originally a children’s guesthouse established in 1959 by Judith Hewison OAM providing care and overnight stay for boarders of families who required help. The home was built in the early 1900’s and was one of the first long day care centres in New South Wales. After a beautiful transformation we named the centre Babies by the Bay at Mimi’s to honour the beautiful history of what Mimi’s created so many years ago.

Childcare subsidy

We are a recognised Childcare Provider and registered for the Childcare Subsidy. All our families are eligible for Government assistance if they meet the criteria set out by the Commonwealth Government.
